ETFs vs Mutual Funds

From a traditional 401k perspective does it make more sense for a 31 year old to invest in ETFs or mutual funds? I left my old job and had to take my 401k with me so I opened up a rollover IRA account. I have a 401k open with my new job but there doesn’t seem to be that many options to choose from and I don’t think my employer matches.

The only investing I’ve done is with individual stocks and ETFs but do I need to approach my 401k differently since it’s longer term?

My previous investment options were mainly Vanguard target retirement funds. I’m pretty new at this so any help would be very much appreciated!

Edit: Thank you all for the advice. I stuck most of the money in VOO, QQQ and DIA.
