You shouldn’t invest in a company to “help it”(???)

I’ve never really thought about it, until my school had a presentation about climate change.

It was all fairly standard, except it mentioned that you should invest in green companies to help the climate. I’ve thought about it for a bit, and that’s BS, right?

My logic is that
If you make money: say you buy in, and the stock goes up 5%. Subtracting your contribution, it would be 4.999999% maybe. But the market PRICES the stock at 5% more, so some other person will “fill the gap” and bring it back to 5% so your contribution does nothing.

If you lose money, you lose money and that’s shitty advice

I’m just an idiot high school student who only has 200$ invested though, so am I wrong?
