Been looking into creating a blue chip asset allocation for the past week and wanted to get the thoughts of the good people at r/stocks. Obviously, the term “blue chip” isn't a fundamental/concrete one that can be pinned to any specific definition: “reputable”, “reliable history of sustained growth”, and “considered to have a robust future” seem to be the consensus, along with general distinctions of high market cap and trading volume.
When I think of blue chip stocks, AMZN, AAPL, and DIS are some of the first that come to mind. I'm not so sure about giving that distinction to every stock in the S&P, but some have mentioned it. What say you guys?
