Unsure if allowed here but, I’m looking for some help getting started in investing and which brokerage to choose
I’ve been looking into investing and I’ve read through the wiki on this sub, but still have some questions.
I know that to start investing I need to set up a brokerage account and from what I’ve read Vanguard & Fidelity seem to be the most common. I’m trying to figure out which would be better for someone like me just getting started.
I’m not looking to be a day trader or buy/sell quickly. I’m more so of a “I just want to stick my money somewhere and leave it for awhile”. I know ETF’s would be better for me, and I’m also looking at REIT’s.
I’ve also spoke with many people who have multiple brokerage accounts, whether it be with the same company or different ones. What is the benefit of having separate accounts? Would it be better to have ETF’s in one account & individual stocks in another?
I’d appreciate any advice on Vanguard vs Fidelity (or even another system) and any other tips on getting started!
Sorry for the long read and I apologize if these are dumb questions, I’m just getting started and would like to learn.
