I started my investments with little knowledge back in November 2021, I actually started almost at the highest and bought companies like NVDA, Microsoft, AMD or Google. So my portfolio after one year was -37% losing about 13.000 euros.
At the beginning I was a bit afraid about loosing all the money and almost entered in panic and close to sell everything, but then following reddit advice I started reading books, studying a bit of economics, learnt how to evaluate different companies and also understanding my risk tolerance when investing.
Now I am in a much better position to understand the market and the risks and I am starting to divert all my earnings / saving to ETFS equivalent to VOO and VXUS, still I maintain my losing positions and I will hold them until they are profitable or sink at 0.
The important part of it is actually if everything would have been easy at the start and I would have gotten easy money I will keep just investing in companies with an P/E ratio of 90 and at some point I would have lost big big money, and then at that time probably I would have sold everything at lost.
So, see this bear market as a blessing, just wait for the prices to reduce as much as possible and go out and buy on sales, if your time horizon is large enough you will be ok in 5 or 6 years.
