Why is the stock market so infatuated with the fed?

For those that have been investing in the stock market for a long time, has the stock market always been so dependent on monetary policies from the fed like it is now?

Every single financial talking head on TV or radio shows just talk about what Jerome Powell said or what he didn't say, was he dovish or hawkish, etc.

Can the stock market ever break this intimate relationship that has created with the fed and stand on it's own legs?
