Why is QYLD either so loved, or so hated??

In my admittedly short time investing, I don't think I've encountered a more divided opinion on a particular investment.

Just the other day I saw a beginning investor asking for advice on their portfolio, and one of the top comments was simply “sell QYLD”, with no given explanation. I've been pondering this question for awhile, and its not the first time I've viewed such comments in contrast with those who praise and swear by it. Meanwhile, you have securities that are either universally lauded (JEPI, SCHD) or dumped on (LCID, META), where the general consensus doesn't seem to sway too much.

I'm still very new to this and continually learning as my journey goes forward, but as I understand – in very basic terms – QYLD isn't necessarily great for growth, but it's an ETF and therefore generally a pretty safe investment as its success or failure isn't tied to just one entity. Not to mention the dividend payment!

If you're wondering, yes, I do hold a position in QYLD, albeit not a large one.

My assumption is that it's all dependent on your personal situation and what your investment goals are, but I'm open to any insight this community has to offer. I thought maybe I could learn something new today!
