Why is Apple surging when China is in trouble?

Apple is up 5% this week, 1.6% today. Some say it's because it announced the date it will reveal the new iphone. But didn't the market already expect this to happen? Why is it surging now, especially given that:

  • Most experts don't think China's stimulus is going to dig itself out of the real estate bubble hole.
  • While we're not in a recession, consumer spending is slowing.
  • Apple has been relatively quiet in all the AI discussions. Some analysts think they are falling behind.

I'm no hater. I hold Apple and I'm wondering if I should sell some covered calls to take advantage of this hype.
