Why buy a Put option when you can set a stop loss?

Obviously a lot of people buy puts when betting a stock will go down. But technically, when you a buy a put you are buying a contract to sell 100 shares at a given strike. So if I have 100 shares and I’m worried they’ll go down, I see the logic in buying a put, but why pay money for that when I can just set a stop loss at the same price for free?
