Survey by S&P Global found that only 26% of American women have invested in the stock market and 65% have large assets in cash… probably preaching to the choir here, but I think everyone in this sub knows how the value of our cash drains away every day with inflation. Other studies (like one conducted by Fidelity this year) show that when women DO invest, they outperform men by 0.4%.
If you're a woman — what's holding you back from investing? If you're not a woman, do you know someone in your life who is sitting on piles of cash and needs a wake up call? We can do better than 26%!
I'll start — what held me back in the beginning was low income, and it's true what they say, you need money to make money. But I worked hard to get my salary up, and as soon as I had my emergency fund built up I started investing! It's really starting to pay off, and now I have enough to be able to explore more investments strategies without feeling like I'm risking more than I can afford to lose.
