I own a stock that’s down about 36% and I want to sell it. I have been holding it for under two years and want to just dump it and put the money into VTI and forget about it for a few years. I don’t anticipate any gains to offset by this loss this year so being in December can I sell today and offset any potential future gains next year or is it only for this year? I did make a little money, not a lot, riding one of the stupid meme stocks that pumped and dumped this year, but that gain was not even half of this loss.
So sell crap stock now or wait until next month? Thanks for any advice.
