When to finally let go?

I have some stocks that have been in the red for a while. Some $$ are trivial, some are higher. At what point do you decide when to sell for a loss?

Part of me says hold long and it will eventually turn. The other part of me says take the loss and use the money to profit elsewhere. The latter is the most sound but I psychologically struggle to not be defeated on my transactions.
