What’s the ultimate taboo you’ve done in regards to “traditional” investing advice?

Here on this sub, I know people like to hate and harp on about the meta but it is sort of true. Subreddits grow and change all the time. With that, the flavor of the month advice does as well.

What's a sort of contrarian play that you guys have that would make most people in this sub insta-downvote you? Things that are so off the mark that people will ignore all your DD right from the get go?

Well without further I'd like to contribute my own to start the convo. I have a sizeable amount of my moonshoot money on SEED (Origin Agriculture). It's a company focused primarily on GMO seed varieties and recently, CRISPR modified corn farms.

It ticks all the scary boxes I think for this sub:

– Chinese (based in Beijing)

– Infrastructure related (future CCP intervention?)

– Micro Cap

– Not yet profitable

Now ignoring this massive elephant in the room, here's why I think the risk is not as scary as initially viewed.

– A lot of this fear was baked in by the tech crackdown over a year ago. That move was more political to reign in top tech power IMO. A microcap should attract less scrutiny or be under the radar.

– 26% insider ownership; teeth in the game is always healthy (super low float of 50m shares is fantastic provided dilution is avoided)

– Global Food Shortage. The severity is still under research but countries around the world will no doubt feel some sting with food prices for another 1+ years.

– Xi (whether you agree with policies or not) has had a mixed upbringing both in the city and rural farmlands. He has repeatedly stated in his policies that infrastructure investment in agriculture is a priority. Along with numerous references to the importance of the Yellow Sea and how it should be tightly integrated with the Chinese grid from top to bottom.

– CCP has recently given the green light for abundant research in the sector, evidence by new legislation and subsidies towards agricultural research. The need to improve “China's Food Bowl” has been publicly stated numerous by Xi saying that “China needs to secure independent food security”.

– They keep a percentage of all these new fancy CRISPR corn farms they're building.

In conclusion, I'm not really paying as much attention to the nitty gritty numbers as blasphemous as that sounds. This is a story I'm willing to ride out even if it ends like the Red Wedding.
