What would you do with large settlement? Asking for a friend

I have a buddy that just recently got a decent settlement. He will have about $800,000 total to work with. He obviously wants to make his money last as long as possible, and to grow it. Granted $800,000 isn’t a ton of money these days…but what kind of stock investments would be relatively safe, yet help him grow the money? Thanks.
