What software do you use for financial data analysis? Where do you get the data?

I wondered how other investors are analyzing companies data. Do you take data from FS and calculate everything yourself? Or do you use some service that provides all of that?

Similar question for analyzing broader trends in economy – e.g. if you would like to see 10-20 top S&P companies stock charts can you do that?

In my Uni we used Stata and data from WRDS, but I think this is for Universities only.

So how do you approach that? Do you do your analysis in Excel or maybe use more specialized tools?

I know this may not be the key to successful investing long-term, but I feel like you can get some intresting ideas that way.
