What did everyone expect to happen?

The difference in sentiment, posts, and attitudes between mid-2021 and now seems extreme.

However, even then, there were plenty of people warning what would happen when the Fed starts tightening, inflation stays persistent, and yields rise. Those warnings attracted significant downvotes.

If someone is going to sell at all, the time to do it would have been in November–certainly not now.

For those that are surprised at their portfolio changes in 2022, did you believe QQQ/SPX couldn't have a major correction after a huge runup in a short period of time, historically high valuations, combined with the fact rates would have to start increasing from 0?

A lot of people endorsed a “high risk” strategy and may be finding out their risk tolerance isn't what they thought. This is valuable to know, however. And those that are younger will have plenty of time to make back losses with perhaps a slightly different allocation strategy.

For those that keep asking “Where is the bottom?” or “What will happen tomorrow?”, there is really no point in asking. Literally nobody knows. You can only do your own research and make your own decisions based on your own financial situation.

Don't really know why I'm posting this… It just seems odd that so many seem surprised.
