I’m 27 and have luckily been able to build up a respectable sized portfolio over the last few years (over 6 figures). I’ve been fortunate enough to own a business and work a full time job as well which has allowed me to build my net worth pretty quickly at a young age. My worth was split up to about 5% cash / 70% in the market / 25% in 2 rental properties I’ve acquired.
I’m honestly not to confident in the direction of the country over the next couple of years and I think a recession and or depression is all but guaranteed at some point.
As of yesterday I liquidated about 70% of my portfolio at pretty much my cost basis so no money lost or gained. I just didn’t feel comfortable with watching the majority of my net worth decrease daily with no end in sight. I don’t see the market reversing and hitting all time highs anytime soon. I think at this point my best move will to be to slowly DCA the money back in from this point on so I’m not trying to “time the bottom”.
What are your thoughts? I’m well aware there’s no way to time the market but it just feels so obvious that there’s a grim horizon ahead so why just continue to let my money drop..
