I slowly DCA into a position of SPY. Probably 25 transactions. At this point, half of the positions have an unrealized loss and half have an unrealized gain. Net unrealized gain is small (a few hundred dollars) thanks to the last few months.
I'm looking to move to a new broker, and based on past experience an account transfer will be a pain. With that in mind, can I sell my entire position and immediately rebuy at the new broker with no tax issues? Would the losing parts of the total position cause any wash sale issues? Or is it just the net gain or lose of the entire transaction?
(I understand I'd have to pay cap gains on the small net gain).
