We all know that EVERYONE on reddit started investing over the last 1-2 years, except for the veterans who have been investing since the time of the Pharaohs. Obviously, I can't age limit this post but I am very interested in what long time veterans have to say about this market. Most of us newer investors say we have long timelines but we really haven't been in the public market that long so we don't truly understand what long means yet. We know that history repeats itself but we're also in “unprecedented territory” so we're running around like chickens with our heads cut off.
Based on my reading it seems that we are down from all time highs but many still expect the floor to keep dropping out for the next 1-2 years due to the amount of money in circulation.
I am also very curious what people think about manipulation in the markets. It's clear to me that there has always been manipulation but it seems to be especially in vogue at the moment and I am curious if you think this will cause lawmakers to enact significant structural changes, or is this just business as usual?
Personally, I don't know what to expect so I continue to DCA into individual opportunities I like and I have already maxed out my IRA for the year (half earlier, half recently) even though I do believe the market will continue its disappointing run for the next few years. I just don't see us climbing out of this inflation hole anytime soon, especially with the current geopolitical situation.
Currently, my best individual stocks are SHW, PG, KO, BMY, T and ANTM. In my IRA my best pick is PDBC.
