US Election 2024?

I was listening to the GOP debate and the Trump interview on the side and it sounds like they promise all sorts of action regarding migrants, cutting taxes, cutting spending, cutting debt, making energy cheap again, abandon Ukraine, going against China etc.

Since Trump appears to be the leader of the pack, I wonder when the market starts to take a potential change in leadership into account. If Trump makes it back, I can see another trade 'war' with China and Europe and cutting taxes with running the economy using large amounts of debt.

The election will be at the end of 2024 but I ask myself when someone should start to pay attention to this or if one is better waiting for after the election as it takes some time before the new president gets sworn in.

How was it 2019/2020?

All I can remember is the stock exchanges going ham of the Trump tax cuts around 2017 but I was not trading actively at that time so I have no hands on experience to draw from.

So would I waste my time watching this when it comes to trading? If it is not, which news might move the market and is it really that important who (or which side) becomes the president?
