Well it may seem like awful and greedy pricing, which is a totally fair judgement. But if you look at Meta’s main metaverse competitor, Roblox, you’ll note that Meta is actually providing 2x more for its creators than Roblox is.
Currently, you get paid 25% while the other 75% goes to a combination of app stores, Roblox pockets, and platform support.
Recently Roblox has improved its developer economy by increasing its stake marginally after recent engagement-based payouts (which has improved from 1.8% > 3.6%)
So it seems like Roblox is trying to incentivize engagement in order to improve developer payout rather than in-game sales.
