As for why i am looking into this stuff i just spend a lot of time on fintel now looking for these weird spikes, trying to better understand what they are exactly, and i'm hoping some experts here might be able to explain something to me i might not know, which is plenty.
So I'm just hoping to get some outside perspective on what might cause something like this to happen on fintels page.
So i was looking at https://fintel.io/i/exor-investments-llp because they have a weird spike in AUM back in 2021..
It looked as though their AUM spiked to almost 1 trillion dollars.
However when i go to try and inspect the actual filing to see what is going on exactly. All i find is this.
https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1732768/000173276822000001/xslForm13F_X01/primary_doc.xml
Which doesn't show that much AUM.
What gets me about this whole thing though. Is when i go to look through fintels listing of their filings.. It shows the reporting date of 2021-12-31 but a report date filed on February 12th, 2023..
How is this allowed and why are they showing trillions of dollars?
This is not an isolated event. If you wanna see a bunch more look at i condensed a bunch into 1 image but i'm not sure i can share it in the post or comments?
Addendum
Here is one weird filing i did find that seemed to have inflated assets.

I originally started looking for these glitches when i noticed JPMorgan had 7 trillion AUM and BNY had 2 reporting periods over 4 trillion.. They have been adjusted, JPMorgan had an amendment to the filing, BNY did not.
