Fun little reminder when trying to cope with volatility. For those of us who are perma long, the past two days have felt relieving. But those who’ve jumped off the roller coaster in the past couple of weeks are probably feeling the pain.
Personally, the pain of seeing my portfolio down 25% is way less than the pain of seeing the market rally hard and being worried I missed the bounce. So I always stay on the ride.
This is one of the most uncertain times the stock market has experienced maybe ever, but certainly in the past ~14 years. Stick to your strategy (types of investments, cash positioning, etc.), use margin responsibly or not at all, and don’t make decisions fueled by emotion.
