I remember the share price of $5. It happened during the dot com crash. The company at that time was growing revenues at a rapid rate selling books on line. There were a hundred companies just like it with respect to being deep in debt and trying to make the loss up by increasing sales volume. Most of them went under. This one not only survived but became the dominant player. The company: Amazon.
We are all trying to find the next amazon. The arena is littered with mediocrity. In your quest to find the next amazon remember that it will be very difficult to distinguish it from the pack. The number one goal of investing is to not lose capital. It is a difficult objective, due to the complexity and uncertainty that abounds.
