Tesla has set a date for its 2022 annual shareholder meeting. The manufacturer will call shareholders on Thursday, Aug. 4, at Tesla's new Giga Texas building in Austin, Texas, to vote on a possible stock split.

Tesla has already set a date for its annual shareholder meeting (ASM), although a date is expected to be set at a later date following the recent filing of a Form 10-K/A. On May 3, Tesla announced via its official Twitter account that the meeting will take place on Thursday, August 4. The event will take place in the Giga Texas building, the manufacturer's new headquarters in Austin, where about 15,000 guests recently attended the factory launch.

At ASM, Tesla shareholders are expected to vote on the stock split. Details of the split have yet to be determined. The last time the manufacturer split its shares was in August 2020. Tesla justified the split by making shares more accessible to employees and investors. At that time, there was a 5:1 split. The cost of the company's stock now fluctuates around $900-$1,000 per share, which is also a high price for a broad range of investors. A possible stock split later this year will make them more affordable.

On May 2, Tesla filed a Form 10-K/A with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In the statement, the manufacturer said it would not submit a proxy statement until later this year, but did not provide a specific timeline. The manufacturer did not specify a submission deadline, but said submissions would be no later than the 120th day after the end of the previous fiscal year. After the fiscal year ends on December 31, 2021, Tesla faces an April 30 deadline to file a proxy statement.
