I'm a former employee of a company that gave me stocks while I was working there. Each stock was priced at 52 USD but the value dropped drastically over time. When they laid off me they vested all the stocks and I received 30% less stocks due to taxes. The price was around 25 USD at that time. Now the price is 11 USD and I want to sell the to start a crypto wallet. Do I need to pay more taxes over this sell? I mean, I have no profit at all because the shares dropped too much, but at the same time I earned from the company so anything above 0 is profit. I'm really confused 🙁
