Target (TGT) Q2 earnings miss BIG

  • Earnings per share: 39 cents vs. 72 cents expected
  • Revenue: $26.04 billion vs. $26.04 billion expected. 3.5% growth y-o-y
  • Gross Profit Margin: 21.5% vs. 24.2% expected. Down from 31% in 2021
  • Operating Income: $321M vs. 534.8M expected. -87% y-o-y. Yes negative
  • Same Store Sales: +2.6% vs. 2.8% expected
  • Operating Income Margin: 1.2% v 9.8% in 2021

Bad earnings call is underestimated. There are few bright spots like growth in online business, beauty products, and 18% ROIC, but overall, really tough Q for Target
