Hi I’m looking for any advice when it comes to swapping brokerages. I’m in the process of moving $150,000.00 in assets over to fidelity from Edward Jones. Can’t handle those fees anymore and I’ve learned quite a bit about investing on my own terms over the last few years. The problem that I’m running into is that I have about $50,000.00 tied up in non transferable mutual funds that I’ve grown to despise. That $50,000.00 makes up 1/8 of my total portfolio at the moment. My options seem to be to keep the funds in my Jones account or liquidate them which could infer fees, plus capital gains tax. My intention is to transfer most of the assets into index funds. I don’t know I’m sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. Obviously I’m going to have a CPA look into some options for me but just wanted to get some random takes and maybe some pointers from those who may have found themselves in a similar situation. Thanks!
