I have had a few thousand shares of TMC for a little over a year and am starting to get cold feet. There has been discussion about the environmental impacts of deep sea nodule mining for some time, but the article that was recently published feels to me like a nail in the coffin: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-38523-4
I am pretty young and so don't have a lot of experience with how this will play out: namely if environmental concerns are found, is it a situation where it will be a full stop, or we will make a small reservation for study and let mining continue? It is my understanding the the USA is actively trying to combat its dependence on foreign (namely Chinese) rare earth mineral mining, and afaik this is one of our only plays on the table (mining the nodules, not necessarily TMC).
