I need help starting my personal investment journey. I'm embarrassed to say, I don't know where to begin, even the first step such as what platform to utilize in order to invest. I have a Schwabb account that I opened years ago in order to use abroad for friction less transactions when pulling money out.
About me
34, single, no kids, currently renting at 1200/mth
I have ~ 200k in savings
I'm self employed and earn ~ 60k/ year
I have a SEP IRA account that started last year with ~ 6k (Barclays, Himax, Rocky Brands)
No debt
In my childhood I had experiences that caused me to believe that my life would be very short, therefore I didn't put much thought into investment. However, I'm still here, and would like to start using my assets to achieve financial security for the rest of my life. Soon I hope to buy a modest farm in the country (300k) and am also interested in purchasing 3 investment properties for rent (250 K generating ~ 2k monthly rent). My uncle loaned me his copy of “A Random Walk Down Wallstreet” because in his words, he was afraid I was going to hurt myself.
Thank you for the advice.
