Short sold at one price- 126.68 avg. Today, showing a lower price- 123.98. Why?

Hello, I short sold CROX at avg 126.68 yesterday. Today, I watch as I’m supposed to be in the green, but when I check my brokerage account it avg me in at 123.98. I’ve checked my history and it shows my settled amount at 126.68. Of course now I’m in the red and not for a small amount. If I sold yesterday, I would’ve eaten in the green at some point for peanuts, but how come now it is avg down so far away from my short sell price? It’s an expensive lesson to learn, but I couldn’t find my answers and I think this post will help others in my position.
