Hello all. I have a few stocks that have weathered the current downturn pretty well.
LLY, UNH, KO, SYY, MCD, WMT, COST. Roughly around 35k all together. I am up between 4-25+ % all time of these buys.
My question is: Would it make sense to sell these stocks at a gain, and put the money directly in an ETF that mirrors the total market or S&P 500 like VOO or VTI, given that these funds are down roughly 18% and will (unless the American economy fails) eventually recover. I am 24 years old and do not need this money anytime soon. Some would be sold at short term cap gains, but I assume my overall portfolio will be negative anyways by the end of 2022 for tax purposes.
