About 3 years ago, I bought a bunch of stocks like Amazon and Disney, which I thought would provide longterm growth. I bought about $15K worth of those stocks and I haven't touched them since. They are now valued at $10K, meaning if I sold them off I'd be at a loss.
My initial thoughts were to just ride it out and let them bounce back over the next decade (after all, these are big corporations). And of course, I don't want to act purely on emotion and sell at a loss.
That being said, I've been told by friends that I should invest in ETFs, so that I can diversify my portfolio with less volatility. Some ETFs have a proven record of providing growth of 5-10% every year.
Should I sell off my stocks (at a loss) for ETFs?
