Hello! I've been following the r/stocks subreddit for a while. I am 25 years old and relatively new to investing. Don't worry, I know about the subject, I've done a lot of research and I've read almost every cornerstone book in the field. First of all, I have to say that I am not an American and I do not live in America. However, inflation rates in my country are highly volatile and the economy is quite bad. That's why I decided to split my stock investments into two. I plan to invest 50% in American stock markets and 50% in domestic stock markets. I will invest in companies that have solid ideas and products in the domestic stock market and that I trust in the long-term income return. Today I want to talk to you about the American stocks part. I do not have proper knowledge on this subject and I do not know how much my research will lead me to the right path. I would like to discuss with you a few stocks I have chosen in this field and consult with you on the points that I did not realize.
While choosing these stocks, I paid attention to the following:
- Have I heard of the company before?
- Do I use the company's products?
- Who are the competitors of the company and which do people prefer?
- In which field does the company serve? (Food, clothing, health, etc.)
- How is the company value, total share value and brand value?
If you pay attention to the criteria I use, you may notice that I cannot consider every stock because I stay away from areas that I have no idea about. When choosing companies, I chose relatively stable stocks. I'm not looking for high returns. I want my investments to beat inflation or lose value relatively less.
The stocks I chose; Crocs(CROX), Protecter & Gamble(PG), McDonald's(MCD), Starbucks(SBUX)
I stayed away from tech stocks. I tried to think a bit like Warren Buffet. I tried to analyze company revenues and customer profiles. Please note that I have built this portfolio defensively and do not expect high returns. The profile where I make more aggressive investments is my domestic stock profile.
What I want you to do is to criticize the American stocks that I have chosen, to say their bad aspects. Maybe you know competitors that I do not know, or you think differently from my determinations. Great! I would like to discuss all these with you and enrich my portfolio.
Thanks in advance for your help.
