Recession and stocks

I am currently researching ways to get ready for a recession and possibly get an upper hand once our economy overcomes this coming recession. Are there any books, videos or articles that explain best practices when investing during a recession? I understand risk/reward and I am not looking for a get rich quick scheme.

I am interested in investing so that I am able to retire comfortably and if possible, younger than the national average age of retirement. Are there any specific stocks or funds that are considered recession proof? I understand this is a blanket term used for stocks that could still go under but what are some that are historically in good shape after the economy bounces back? Any advice is appreciated, thank you.
