Hi! I have a question about institutional ownership. I read this from a Discord bot:
Major holders of $TSLA
42.69% of shares collectively held by 3326 institutions.
18.38% of shares held by insiders.
Top Institutions Holding $TSLA
6.22% of shares held by Vanguard Group, Inc. (The)
5.26% of shares held by Blackrock Inc.
3.65% of shares held by Capital World Investors
3.23% of shares held by State Street Corporation
1.35% of shares held by Geode Capital Management, LLC
So basically, my question is this: When it says Vanguard Group is holding 6.22% of TSLA outstanding shares, is Vanguard holding it mostly because of their ETFs? Like I was thinking this info could be helpful because it may show me that institutions are bullish on TSLA. But in reality if Vanguard is just holding this in VOO, for example, then it just means 6.22% of TSLA's shares are being “held” by people holding ETFs. Please tell me if I am interpreting this correctly or not.
