PSA: Stop limits can’t always be cancelled in extended hours.

This bit me last week.

For anyone that wasn’t aware, a stop limit’s stop can be triggered during market hours setting an active sell at the limit price. Only it isn’t a limit sell on your end, it maintains status as a “stop limit order” which you can’t cancel in extended hours as freely. It has a chance to be filled before you can change your order should you renege.

It may “refresh” and either be cancelled or filled before market or on the open depending. If you are concerned just try to contact whoever holds your account.

Depends on your broker but I doubt only one acts this way.
