A little background in case I may be missing something that is crucial. I am 25 years old, going on to 26. I am now eligible to enroll in my employers 401k plan
On the side, I have Acorns, which includes a general IRA, as well as a Roth IRA, and I also do my own recurring stock investing through Robinhood on the side, primarily into ETFs, VOO, SCHD, O, etc
I say all this because my employer gives a 3% contribution each paycheck without needing a match. Unless I am missing something, I would prefer to just get their 3% contribution into this account and keep investing on the side in my other accounts, unless putting in a match would be good for any other purpose, such as taxes, etc. For those who doubt it; I got my first contribution, it wasn’t much, but I didn’t have to match for them to give it to me. I only make about $45,000 a year for now
Their 401k plan is through American Funds / Edward Jones, I haven’t heard the best about either entity, so while I appreciate my employer putting their money into it for me, I don’t know if I should put mine in
I am looking for something to enroll in, with a low expense ratio, and I can be aggressive as possible. Dividends are a plus. I wouldn’t take them now, I would just keep them reinvested. I don’t spend much and am very frugal. I want to invest as much as possible for retirement
