Nintendo reported declines across the board in its financial results for the twelve months ended March 31, 2023


Here's what you need to know from Nintendo's full-year results:

The numbers

  • Net sales: ¥1.6 trillion ($11.8 billion, down 5.5% year-on-year)
  • Operating profit: ¥504.4 billion ($3.7 billion, down 14.9%)
  • Ordinary profit: ¥601.1 billion ($4.5 billion, down 10.4%)
  • Gross profit: ¥885.4 billion ($6.6 billion, down 6.4%)
  • Switch units sold: 17.97 million (down 22.1%)
  • Software sold: 213.96 million (down 9%)
  • Digital sales (incl. Nintendo Switch Online revenue): ¥405.2 billion ($3 billion, up 12.7%)
  • Mobile and IP-related: ¥51 billion ($366.6 million, down 4.3%)
  • Lifetime Switch units sold: 125.62 million
  • Lifetime Switch software sold: 1.04 billion

The one bright spot is digital sales and online revenue, which are also the highest margin segment for Nintendo.
