Like an idiot I used the margin account feature on Robinhood and last year used about 30k of it to invest into stocks that I saw doing well in the future.
Problem now is a handful of those stocks are down, and I’m being charged about $75 a month in margin fees for the last year. I want to close out this margin I’m using and downgrade the account.
Stocks I own that are up right now (aapl, msft, amd, osis).
Stocks that are down (Nio, cgc, tlry, coin, wish, huya, dkng)
My question is do I sell off my large position in aapl ( about 28k) to cover this margin used and then just downgrade the account? While holding those other stocks in the red hoping they bounce back so I don’t sell at a loss?
Or do I sell off the stocks in the red and take the hit now just to get this monthly fee off my back.
If there are any other options here I’m open to suggestions. I appreciate any helpful advice
