My new job gave me 25,000 shares in the company

I want to first say i just started the job last Monday, I am 20 and I have no knowledge of stocks. It’s a rapidly growing start up and they are looking to sale within the next year. What does this mean for me and all of my co workers? I believe a current share is around $2
