Liability as a Stock Gift Reciever

Hi all!

I have a couple legal questions on the liability as a stock gift receiver (NY)

I was discussing with twitter user @ShakenButNotDeterred and how they are gifting stock of GME but was curious the liability I take on as a receiver of said stock as a gift. I understand I take on the capital gains tax etc…

My main question is do I take on insider trading liability? What if the person gifting the stock is found guilty on insider trading or some other securities legal issue, does any of that rollover to me?

I attempted to look online but was unable to find anything, so if sources can be cited/linked it would be greatly appreciated.
