My husband and I inherited a handful of boomer stocks and can sell them tax free or keep them (cost basis resets.) Keep in mind most of these provide a good quarterly dividend of between $300 and $900+ quarterly. Which do you think we should keep? We retire in 15 years.
PFZ Pfizer
JNJ Johnson & Johnson
CVX Chevron
BP British Petroleum
PEP Pepsi
PG Proctor & Gamble
TSLA Tesla
APPL Apple
I’m thinking drop the TSLA. Keep the rest. Reinvest all dividends EXCEPT the oil stocks, which give us $1200/quarter. If it weren’t for the dividends, I’d sell the oil stocks this or next year while they’re still up.
