Just curious to how many people are down below the cash that they put in (not down from gains)

I am curious about this. Everyone says they are down 10%, 20% 40%, etc but there is no context. Some people are down from their gains and other people down from the cash they put in. It is not the same. I am only down from my gains. I invested total of 50k cash into the stocks and I was up 100k beginning of this year and now I am down to 80k. Please note that I did start 5 years ago. Some people are actually down from cash that they invested (for example, someone invested total of 10k cash and it is worth 7k).

What about you? I am curious about this. Thanks.
