Hello,
I'm new to investing but have been doing tons of research and decided do my investing with Fidelity. I'm trying to come up with a strategy that would work best for me. I have a few in mind and I'd love to get your feedback.
Long Term Strategy:
I have a traditional IRA with Invesco. I was considering moving it over to Fidelity, then investing in the following indexes. Fidelity Extended Market Index Fund (FSMAX), Fidelity Large Cap Growth or normal Fund (FSPGX/FNILX), and Fidelity Zero Internation Index Fund (FZILX). From my understanding using Fidelity Zero would work best with tax benefit accounts such as an IRA account. My plan with these 3 is to basically cover all my bases. S&P 500, 2000 companies outside of S&P 500, and International companies for long-term reasons. (other options is to invest in dividen investments with auto reinvest, what do you think?)
Short Term Strategy:
I also then have roughly 5k I would like to invest in more of a short term. Basically use it to invest for the next few years (2-5 years) instead of having it sitting in a savings account. I was thinking of investing between Fidelity Blue Chip Growth Fund (FBGRX) and either Fidelity Nasdaq Composite Index fund (FNCMX) or Fidelity Select Semiconductors Portfolio (FSLEX). My thought process behind this is because it's a shorter-term investment I'll push towards a more aggressive investment to obtain the most return possible in the shortest amount of time. (any other recommendations?)
Side Thoughts
Am I missing anything here? Does my thought process kind of make sense here or is there something else I would benefit from doing instead? (aka like a “3 fund portfolio” maybe like FSKAX, FXNAX, and U.S. Bond Index)???
