Is there any reason NOT to short or buy puts for any stock with earnings coming up?

Even stocks that beat earning estimates are still getting hammered down. Where is everyone putting the $ they get from selling off all these stocks? No way EVERYONE is just sitting on cash. Hedges are moving their investments, but where to?
