SEC reports bi-monthly and does not force buy ins, reverse trades, or bar repeat offenders (I guess DTCC would be the ones that could take action?). So I'm just trying to understand what deterrents there are from failing on majority of trades if you were net short on a stock. Is there a way to see cumulative open FTDs for a ticker? Is there a way to see how many FTDs have been closed in a given period? Or is the SEC data broken down to a daily level the cumulative number (I don't think so but I obviously don't know)?
