Is there a way to find out all the publicly traded companies in the city, and county a person lives in.

I just would really like to find out all the publicly trades conpanies where I live, id go into greater detail why but feel lime that would dox me just a little bit. I just feel theres a lot of money coming into the area I live and some companies are making a lot of money, and if they hace stocks I could buy well that would be a good investment.
