Is there a sustainable middle ground for reliable gains?

Hello, so starting from this summer I finished my Uni course and got my first job. It is a full time position, and I am studying a Masters along side it.

Currently I have £1000 a month in disposable income, and another £700 every 4 months.

I want to invest this money and get started early in a strong way, I understand that usually the best course of action is to invest in some kind of ETF I believe they are like the S&P 500. But I am wondering if there is a better approach maybe in the short term. Or an approach that involves both investing into an ETF and then other positions. And what your suggestions would be. Currently I have £1157 in a pie of a few of the big tech stocks atm. Tech being the industry I am familiar with it seemed right with me understanding these companies. But I am wondering if something else would be better. My goals aren't for immediate success. I want to invest for the long term, but I guess I also don't want to be on a path for decades. Maybe a potential sweet spot if that could be the case.

I have an account on Trading212 as an ISA.
