Is TCEHY / Tencent Holdings a valid way of investing in private company Epic Games / Unreal Engine ? They own 40%

I wanted to invest in Epic Games / Unreal Engine, but they are a private company.

The closest I could find is buying TCEHY stock because they own 40% of Epic games, or $SONY because they own 5%.

Is this a valid way to invest in a company or no?

I'm guessing not, but I just wanted to be sure.

This will also answer if “proxy buys” are ever worth it and valid.
